Dislocated Worker Training
Purpose
This program helps eligible dislocated workers obtain long-term, permanent employment through training services. Based on eligibility, dislocated workers may receive retraining assistance for tuition, books, tools, and related expenses to attend approved training programs.
The training provider and program must appear on Ohio’s approved training provider list, and the training field must be in an in-demand occupation as determined by the State of Ohio.
Dislocated Worker Eligibility Requirements
An individual may qualify as a dislocated worker if they meet one of the following conditions:
- Laid off or terminated from employment, eligible for or exhausted unemployment compensation, and unlikely to return to a previous industry or occupation.
- Lost a job due to the closure of a facility.
- Was self-employed but is now unemployed as a result of general economic conditions.
- Is a displaced homemaker.

How to Apply for WIOA Funding
Please note: It may take 30 days or more to schedule an eligibility appointment, so please plan accordingly. There is no guarantee that your application and eligibility process will be completed before your desired training start date. To receive WIOA funding, eligibility and all requirements must be completed before training begins.
You may apply online or print the preliminary application, complete it, and mail it to OhioMeansJobs Belmont County as your first step in seeking training assistance under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
After submitting the application, your second step is to call OhioMeansJobs Belmont County to follow up on your preliminary application.
